Founder’s Note

A memory from Jules

My connection to Kenya began in 2004.

It was my first trip abroad after breast cancer.

I travelled alone for work, flying into Nairobi to meet my team later in Mombasa. From there, one of my local colleagues and I drove by jeep all the way to the coast. The road was long and rough. Along the way I saw everything — beautiful landscapes, wildlife, but also poverty, broken cars, small roadside shops made from little more than wooden boards, and people simply doing their best to make a living.

It was real. Raw. And humbling.

And then, after hours of dust and bumps, we arrived at White Sands.

It felt like stepping into another world.
Calm. Light. Space. Beauty.

Paradise.

But the most powerful moment came earlier — when I walked out of Nairobi airport.

I remember standing there and feeling something very clearly:

It wasn’t my time to die.
I still had work to do.

And I did.

For the next nineteen years, my work took me across the world. But Kenya will always be special — because that journey marked the beginning of everything that came after.
